I have decided to “get serious” about this blogging.  I started it about a year and a half ago, and have done diddly-squat with it, so far.  So I decided that a good New Year’s resolution (or whatever you would want to call it) would be to become more active with it.   Certainly, there is enough material out there that any intelligent person could find something to “blog” about every day.

I will begin by sharing the story of how this user name “ZPTDOODA” was chosen.    When I started this, I was trying to think of a name, and if I remember correctly, I picked something and it had already been taken, or something like that, and so just to pick something to get started with, I picked that one.  It was a take-off of the song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah,” from the famous Walt Disney movie, “Song Of The South.”   You have probably heard it.   If not, check youtube.  If you have not seen the movie, check ebay, youtube, or some other sources.  I don’t think you can buy it directly from Disney, due to political correctness issues.   (Disney is not owned by Disney any more.)

Anyway, ever since I was a young child, I always thought that song was one of the first positive-thinking songs I ever remember.   It won the Academy Award for best song in a movie when the movie was originally made, which I think was about 1947 or 1948.   I always liked it.  I know that about 10 years ago, I was out in California, and they were using the song in TV commercials for Disneyland.

And so in 1987, I was living in North Carolina, and decided to get a personalized license plate for my car.   At that time you could get one with up to 8 characters.  So I picked “ZPTDOODA,” and the North Carolina license plate dept. made it for me, and I used it for several years, until I moved out of North Carolina and got my car registered in another state.   But I still have the license plate, and eventually I will put a picture of it on here.

Interestingly, several years ago I saw another car in California that had a license plate “ZPID2DA” and one in Virginia that had “ZPDODA” (if I remember correctly).  I would love to get them all 3 lined up for a photo.

So, have a wonderful day, and I hope Mr. Bluebird sits on your shoulder all day long!
